Assistive listening

Assistive listening devices for use at the Commencement Exercises and/or Hooding Ceremony may be reserved by contacting the MIT Audio-Visual Services Office at (617) 253-1674.


There will be American Sign Language interpretation of the opening/closing remarks and speeches of the Commencement Exercises and the opening/closing remarks of the Hooding Ceremony.

There will be a captioning display in the Disabilities section on Killian Court. In addition, guests sitting in other locations may read a captioned feed of Commencement audio via personal mobile devices. Access to the text stream will be available via the webcast page. For onsite assistance, please ask a Commencement volunteer.

Wheelchair rental and oxygen

If you need to stay in a wheelchair for the duration of either the Commencement Exercises or the Investiture of Doctoral Hoods, we recommend that you rent a wheelchair. These local companies have been used by guests in the past:
