There is no designated area from which guests may take photographs or videotape during the June 6 and 7 ceremonies. Guests are requested to keep in mind the experience of all the families present and to remain in their seats until the conclusion.
Professional photographers (Commencement Photos, Inc.) take pictures of each graduate at the time of diploma distribution and on exiting the stage at the Commencement Exercises, as well as each recipient of a Doctoral degree and hood at the time of presentation at the Doctoral Ceremony. Details are available online and order forms will be available onsite at the ceremonies. MIT Video Productions provides a live webcast of the 2019 Commencement and Hooding/Degree Conferral ceremonies, which will be made available on the morning of each event.
During the Commencent webcast on June 7, you will see the pageantry of academic regalia during the formal Procession and Recession, as well as the degree conferrals and Commencement addresses.
Candidates for the PhD and ScD receive their degrees and hoods in a separate ceremony on June 6. The Doctoral Ceremony webcast will include the Procession, the addresses by Chancellor Cynthia Barnhart and Prof. Squire Booker, the conferral of degrees, and the investiture of Doctoral hoods to the candidates.
On-demand viewing of the ceremonies will be made available online after the events.
