You can register to participate using the Commencement section of the MIT Atlas app or atlas-apps.mit.edu on a mobile device or desktop. Before using the MIT Atlas app to register, make sure you have the latest version of the MIT Atlas app installed on your mobile device or desktop. The MIT App Store has links to download or update the app from the Apple, Google, and Windows app stores.
To register, open the app or go to atlas-apps.mit.edu, click on the Commencement tile, and follow the prompts to indicate which ceremonies you will attend. You will then be walked through ordering rental regalia if you need it. Please note we no longer accept cash payments. Acceptable forms of payment at the time of pick up include an MIT cost object number or a personal check made payable to MIT.
f you need regalia, please submit your request no later than Wednesday, April 23 to ensure your preferred-sized gown and specific hood can be ordered. After that date, registration will remain open and extra gowns along with a selection of hoods from a limited number of schools will be available.
Regalia pick-up will be May 27–30 from 9 am to 4 pm in 8-119. Regalia returns will be May 29–30 and June 2 from 9 am to 4 pm in 8-119. Questions about regalia may be directed to facultyregalia@mit.edu.
Faculty and lecturers who are participating in Commencement ceremonies do not require a ticket, but their guests do. To request a guest ticket, please email the pertinent details (names of guests, ceremonies for which you would like tickets) to Professor Les Norford, chair of the Commencement Committee, at facultytix@mit.edu.
This ceremony unites the undergraduate and graduate degree candidates in all programs in all Schools and the College. The OneMIT ceremony, which does not comprise diploma presentation, includes the academic procession, speeches, and the turning of the Brass Rat.

Bachelor’s degrees are conferred at this ceremony on Killian Court, where students will cross the stage as their names are announced.

The Advanced Degree Ceremonies held by the Schools and College recognize the graduates of all Master’s and Doctoral programs. Hoods will be presented to Doctoral candidates and all of the degree recipients will be announced, cross the stage, and have their pictures taken.

Absolutely! Whether this is your first Commencement or your twentieth, we welcome faculty members at all levels of appointment, as well as emeriti colleagues who wish to join us.
